An Australian take on the classic orange liqueur. Made with our finest brandy, orange zest and a selection of botanicals this velvety liqueur is favoured by mixologists for being infinitely versatile, laying a luxurious base for an array of cocktails. A staple in every bartenders collection.

The hero ingredient in many timeless cocktails such as the Cosmopolitan, Sidecar and the Margarita, or an endless selection of modern classics, our Madame Marmalade Orange liqueur is a premium version of this essential brandy-based orange liqueur - or triple sec, in the classic Curaçao tradition.

Made from fresh zesty oranges, a premium brandy base and a closely guarded blend of botanicals in the mix, Madame Marmalade is a complex, mouth-filling velvety liqueur. Intensely ripe, sweet juicy marmalade flavours beautifully balance with aromas of freshly squeezed oranges lifted by the  sweet floral heady notes of brandy, with hints of dried fruits and vanilla.

Decadent, luscious and silky texture carrying sweet brandy spices of cinnamon with hints of clove and nutmeg overlaid with candied orange rind. The palate is prolonged balancing the toasty, vanilla and nutty influences of the French oak used to age our brandy finishing dry and chest warming with marmalade nuances.

An Australian twist on the classic cognac-based orange liqueur, Bass & Flinders Distillery's Madame Marmalade is made from a premium brandy base blend of 2yo, 4yo and 7yo old brandies, the zest of Victorian oranges, cane sugar and a touch of Wattleseed to complement the depth of flavour that comes through from the brandy, and to make this a distinctly Australian take on the classic orange liqueur.

    Madame Marmalade

    The Madame has turned into our favourite tipple. During lockdown, she was our go to “tiny sip” after dinner. She was our sidecar cocktail into which we dropped a dried piece of bergamot orange (we grow bergamots). Madame is totally devine, the orange tones suit her perfectly! So adaptable, so wickedly delicious!

Our process starts in the Victorian vineyards, where in conjunction with our winemaker, we have a say in the sugar levels, ripeness of fruit, PH and acidity - because all these elements - at the right levels - combine to create the perfect wine needed to distil into our grape spirit.

This grape spirit is called eau de vie - French for 'Water of Life'. This base spirit is the lifeline and foundation for every product we produce. It tells a story of the vintage and vineyards it was sourced from and delivers a smoother, fuller, richer base to deliver the ultimate gin experience.
