Set in the heart of the beautiful Red Hill on The Mornington Peninsula, on the tourist drive, guests can experience a journey from vineyard to glass and have an insight into how the distillery makes this fine spirit.
A visit to the distillery is a unique experience, as it provides a rare insight into the engine room of Bass & Flinders from Bob & Wayne's perspective. The newly refurbished cellar door combines modern architectural style with a notable barrel room.
"As the only distillery on the Mornington Peninsula, many tourists to the region visit four or five wineries in a day, now there’s something a little bit different on the trail. says Bob Laing. “Gin is such an easy connection to make from wine. It’s aromatic, it’s flavourful, it’s textural, it’s about balance and there’s a truly unique character to the way distillers want to make their own gin.” Bob Laing, Master Distiller
Additionally, visitors can taste a range of award winning spirits including Gin, Vodka Limoncello and Crema di Limoncello whilst taking in the scenery of this beautiful Victorian region.
On offer at the distillery is also the distiller’s very successful Gin Masterclass. Participants can delve into the unique and wonderful world of gin production whilst tasting a range of gins. The classes not only cover the long history behind gin, but guests will also have the opportunity to create a gin tailored specifically to their tastes by blending some of the 20 botanicals that Bass & Flinders use in their own gin production.
